"Love means, having a strong feeling towards someone"
"Love is bullshit"
"Love means being selfless"
"Love means sacrifice"
" Love does not exist"
These are some of the most common answers I get while asking a few people what love means to them.
I scroll through my Tumblr and Twitter most of the time before I sleep and what I came to realized is that a lot of us tend to retweet/reblog or even post negative stuff more than positive ones.

What is worse is apparently, most of those posts are about love.
I often see quotes like " Even though we are looking at the same stars, we are infinity apart" OR " I trusted you with all I had, and all you gave me was a broken heart"
If you look at it in an artistic way of how a poet would compose a poem (like Shakespeare) or how an author would write his romance novel, that's perfectly fine and of course beautiful. But if you ever dwell in these kind of quotes and applying them directly to your life when your life ain't half that bad, you better get out of it because quotes like these tend to led us to being addicted to our own sadness.
See the thing is, we know that whatever the social media post or produce can influence us in many ways, we also understand that the media only shows us what we want to hear and see but we are not actually blocking out the things that are bad for us.
There is mostly only one answer in general when we ask other people what love is. It has always gotta do with a partner and if you don't then people do not talk about love. But have we ever realized that your other half could be your parents as well, your siblings , your friends and all the other people that care for you. It is also about loving people in the streets who do not have shelter over their heads, showing love to orphanages who do not even know why they are in this world without parents.
I am not saying that it is wrong to wish or hope for Prince Charming but there is more to the world than finding that particular Prince. The world needs more love then we could ever think. Some people need to grow up drinking elephant pee, some people in the third world countries are not blessed with the education that they deserve. And here we are tweeting that love does not exist, but it does not cross our mind that love starts with each one of us. There are people out there dying to live, and there are people who commit suicide just because of relationships.
I've seen girls ages 13-18 circulate thoughts of them not being "good enough" just because someone mistreated them in their relationship meanwhile when I was 13 I was still wondering what has maths and algebra gotta do with life. That is sad, it is depressing to know that this generation thinks of love shallowly.
Coming back to the question of "What does love mean to you" I would answer :
Love is kind and selfless , love completes, love is being able to love others and lastly love is about not neglecting yourself. Love is in you and you are loved.
